What is Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)?

An upper blepharoplasty is to be considered separate from a lower blepharoplasty. An upper blepharoplasty will address the excess skin on the upper portion of the eyelids. Oftentimes, the excess skin can impair patients’ vision, by removing said excess skin, the vision is restored, and patients will achieve a refreshed, awake look.
A lower blepharoplasty addresses the ‘bags’ and puffiness on the lower portion of the eye. This surgical procedure involves removal of the herniated fat pads under each eye. With the removal of the fat pads this creates a permanent solution to help smooth out the under eyes.
While an upper and lower blepharoplasty are considered two separate procedures, they can be addressed together surgically.
