What is a Fotofacial™?

A Fotofacial is a rejuvenating treatment that combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF) energy to treat signs of aging and UV damage. This treatment is ideal for addressing common skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, rosacea and redness, acne scars, large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven skin tone and texture.

Fotofacial™ Candidates

Patients who wish to address common skin concerns such as sun damage, facial redness, rosacea, uneven skin tone and texture, and more can often benefit from a Fotofacial treatment. Individuals with lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types I-III) often have better outcomes, as IPL can more easily differentiate between the pigmentation in the skin and the treatment areas. However, individuals who are pregnant or nursing, have a history of keloid scarring, or those with severe acne or ongoing skin infections should not undergo this treatment. To learn more about candidacy, contact Dermacare Plastic Surgery today to schedule a contraction.

Benefits of a Fotofacial

Improved Skin Tone and Texture

Fotofacials reduce hyperpigmentation and stimulate collagen production, improving skin tone and texture.

Reduction of Redness and Rosacea

The Fotofacial’s IPL therapy targets and diminished facial redness associated with broken capillaries and rosacea. This results in a more evenly toned complexion.

Non-Invasive with Minimal Downtime

Because Fotofacials are non-invasive, they require minimal to no downtime, allowing patients to return to their regular activities as soon as they wish.

How long does a Fotofacial last?

The results of a Fotofacial may last from 6-12 months. Maintenance treatments are recommended to help maintain results.

What is the difference between a laser and a Fotofacial?

A Fotofacial is recommended for individuals who wish to improve their skin for a fresher appearance. It delivers IPL and RF technology rather than laser technology. There is no peeling of the skin with a Fotofacial, unless there is significant sundamage. If so, the sundamage will resurface, turn darker and slough off while laser treatments usually cause shedding of the epidermis.

Is a Fotofacial painful?

Fotofacials may cause mild discomfort for some patients, which is why we offer topical numbing cream before your treatment session. The feeling of the IPL laser can be compared to the snapping of a rubber band.

Dr Rod is a very skilled surgeon. After losing more than half my body weight, I had several different procedures done. A lot of extra skin removal and reconstruction. My results were fantastic! His staff is so friendly and pleasant to work with. His nurse Julie is incredibly kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Staff is amazing and Dr. Rod is the best. Highly recommended.

Dr Rod is very thoughtful and great communication in explaining process and results. All staff is nice too. Never felt like anyone was trying to sell me something. They helped me define what I was looking for and what results would be. Trustworthy.
