Thigh Lift

Dermacare offers Thigh Lift plastic surgery to remove loose skin and excess fatty deposits in your upper inner thigh

Many Phoenix women report that they are unhappy with the appearance of their thighs. The presence of fullness or extra fat in this area can be improved by diet, exercise, or by liposuction. However, the effects of aging or after significant weight loss, there is often loose or sagging skin and soft-tissue that can only be corrected by a thigh lift. The thigh lift or thighplasty procedure is performed to help improve the contour and appearance of the inner thigh area. There are a variety of thigh lift procedures available to suit different anatomical concerns, and to create the desired result.

What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove loose skin and excess fatty deposits in your upper inner thigh through an incision in your groin crease.
Liposuction of this and other areas are commonly performed in conjunction with each other. If you have experienced massive weight loss and are left with excess skin that extends down to your knee, a vertical incision from your groin to your knee along the inner surface of your thigh may be needed.
If you also suffer from laxity in your outer thigh, Dr. Rod may recommend a body lift procedure instead of a thigh lift. Only by coming in to see Dr. Rod in a consultation at his Goodyear office can you know which procedure is right for you.

Are you a Thigh Lift Candidate?

In general, candidates for a thigh lift are:
● People whose weight is relatively stable.● Phoenix individuals with excess soft tissue along the inner or medial thigh region and/or the outer thigh.● Healthy individuals who do not have medical conditions that impair healing or increase risk of surgery.● Non-smokers.● Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic goals for what thigh lift surgery can accomplish.● Individuals committed to leading a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and fitness.

Thigh Lift Procedure Options

Medial (inner) thigh lift: An incision is made in the groin area, and any excess fat and skin are excised along the inner aspect of the thigh. Liposuction may be, but is not always included in this procedure, depending on your individual requirements. The area from the groin to the knee is recontoured and the procedure is repeated for the other thigh. If a more substantial wedge of tissue is removed, the procedure is called a thighplasty.

Lateral (outer) thigh lift: This is a more complex procedure, usually involving recontouring of the buttocks as well as the outer thighs and removal of more tissue. Scarring is more extensive, and the skin will be less elastic after the surgery, so weight should be maintained.

What will my Thigh Lift Incisions and Scars be like?

Medial thigh lift: The incisions are made in the groin area. For Phoenix patients requiring more substantial removal of excess skin, a longitudinal incision may be made along the inner thigh.
Lateral thigh lift: Depending on the requirements of a lateral thigh lift, the incisions will extend from the groin, around the hip, and possibly a buttock fold incision will be included. The surgeon will attempt to place the incisions where the scars can be hidden by clothing, but the incisions will be more extensive than for a medial thigh lift.

Thigh Lift Recovery

The thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately two hours. You are allowed to return home approximately 90 minutes following the procedure. You need to be up and walking the night of the procedure, but more strenuous exercise is not allowed for four weeks. Most Phoenix patients return to work within two weeks. The scars are well hidden in the groin crease and fade nicely over about one year.

Thigh Lift Limitations & Risks

Fortunately, significant complications from thigh lifts are infrequent. Your specific risks for thigh-lift surgery will be discussed during your consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Some of the potential complications of all surgeries are:
● Adverse reaction to anesthesia.● Hematoma or seroma (an accumulation of blood or fluid under the skin that may require removal).● Infection and bleeding.● Changes in sensation.● Scarring.● Allergic reactions.● Damage to underlying structures.● Unsatisfactory results that may necessitate additional procedures. You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your board-certified plastic surgeon, both before and after your thigh-lift surgery.
