About Eclipse PRP

Why PRP Skin Treatment?

We’ve all cut our skin and noticed how quickly the body responds. This is because the body has several tools to heal itself that work on the microscopic level. One of the most important healing tools that the body uses are platelets in the blood. These small but powerful cells respond to damage in your blood vessels so they can heal you. When platelets are concentrated together it’s called Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP. The therapeutic qualities of PRP have been used in orthopedics for years and show promise for several disorders. Dermacare, a cosmetic surgery office in Phoenix, uses the PRP from patients’ skin and they can’t get enough. Mary, an aesthetician from Dermacare explains, “A surprising number of my clients want a PRP facial because they watched Kim Kardashian get one on TV. When they learn how blood can improve their skin, they realize that it’s not just another trendy procedure. The healing properties of the blood do wonders for any skin [type]. It’s more involved than a facial because we filter the patients’ blood, but it’s worth it. Even those that are squeamish of blood are doing it because there’s nothing that provides results like this so quickly.”

What is Eclipse PRP?

Eclipse PRP® is the system that Dermacare uses to separate the different party of your blood based on their densities. The system allows for the preparation of pure Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) with optimal platelet concentrations and cellular content. Virtually, all Red Blood Cells (RBC) are eliminated from PRP and the concentration of pro-inflammatory Granulocytes (GRs) is highly reduced. Platelet-Rich Plasma is prepared by taking a small sample of your own blood, then separating platelets from Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP), RBC and GRs via centrifugation. Next, the PRP is collected and may be applied to the treated site.

How does PRP Therapy differ from dermal filler products?

Unlike dermal fillers like Restylane Refyne or Juvèderm, PRP Therapy is naturally derived from your own blood rather than from foreign sources, such as; calcium hydroxylapatite, hyaluronic acid gel, poly-L-lactic acid or bovine collagen.

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of several growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios.

What are Platelet Growth Factors?

Upon activation, platelets release growth factors and other molecules. These growth factors are regeneration-promoting signaling molecules, such as Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor group (TGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) and others. These molecules are shown to regulate the healing cascade, including inflammation and cell proliferation.

How long does the procedure take?

The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform.

How many treatments do I need?

The number of procedures needed depends on; each individual Phoenix patient, the patient’s desired results and individual treatment plan. As a stand-alone therapy, it is usually recommended for a series of one to three treatment sessions performed 4 to 5 weeks apart for best results.

Is the PRP Facial procedure painful?

Most Phoenix patients don’t report any discomfort from PRP treatments. The blood draw is over in seconds and we do everything we can to keep you comfortable. There may be some minor level of discomfort during the procedure, as well as some redness immediately following the treatment that should go away in about 2-3 hours.

Are there any possible side effects?

There have not been any reported side effects arising from PRP Vampire Facial to date. Some Phoenix patients may experience mild swelling, irritation, itching or tenderness at the infusion sites. These are temporary conditions and usually disappear within a few hours.

How long do the results of the PRP facial last?

PRP Therapy delivers natural and long lasting effects. The longevity of the results of PRP Therapy at Dermacare depend on the extent of treatment, areas treated, and number of injections per session.
