Dr. Rod grew up in Wisconsin but ventured to Missouri to obtain his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. With a minor in German, he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1996.
Remembering his roots, he returned to Wisconsin to attend medical school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, graduating in 2001. Dr. Rod then completed his surgical residency at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program where he trained for five years in general and vascular/trauma surgery.

Dr. Rod earned his board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2009, which has long been recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Rod is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
