What is Volbella and how is it different from other “Juvederms?”
Unless you have had injectables recently, you probably haven’t heard of Volbella. It’s new to the market but it’s part of the Juvèderm family which has been around for years. It’s made by Allergan which also makes Botox. Volbella is a new dermal filler injectable product for the lips and peri-oral area. Designed not only for gentle restoration of natural looking lip volume, it can also be used for defining lip contours, treating oral commissures, smoothing fine ‘barcode’ lines around the lips and supporting the ‘marionette’ lines down the chin.
Volbella is the latest advancement in the Juvéderm range of facial fillers, developed specifically for your lips and mouth area. It is a smooth gel that is injected by your Dermacare provider, using an ultra-fine needle. It has been specifically developed as a smooth gel to give a soft, natural feel. The gel fills in lip lines and wrinkles while the hyaluronic acid within attracts and retains moisture.
Like VOLUMA, Volbella was developed with VYCROSS™ technology to deliver a natural look and feel, with results proven to last up to a year. Because it also includes a local anesthetic, you should find it makes the treatment process as comfortable as possible.
How do I know I can trust Volbella with my smile?

A recent study showed that 98% of those who had lip-filler treatment with Volbella reported that their lip appearance goals have been achieved. It has been specially formulated with VYCROSS™ technology to deliver a natural look and feel in the skin and help avoid your lips looking unnatural.
How long does Volbella last?

What should I expect before Volbella treatment?
Your provider at Dermacare will have an in-depth consultation with you to understand your needs and what facial features you would like to enhance. They will explain all the options to make sure that your Volbella treatment satisfies your expectations. If you’re not a candidate for the injectable we might suggest something else.
What should I do after Volbella treatment?
When you finish your injectable, we’ll advise you on your aftercare. You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours. You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for a couple weeks. Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites. It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next seven days. Many find that putting ice packs on the area or Arnica can help with bruising. Dermacare Tip: To enhance your skin’s health (with Volbella or anything else, for that matter), always drink lots of water, get enough sleep, and use moisturizer and sunblock every day.
Will Volbella hurt to get injected?
It does hurt a little but it’s over fast. If you’re especially sensitive or afraid of needles let us know and we’ll make it even easier. The smooth consistency of the products in VYCROSS™ products like Volbella allow your provider to administer them easily and smoothly. Each syringe contains 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience.
Will there be swelling after Volbella?
Following a filler injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injected area. These effects should not last for more than a week. Remember, 12 hours after your procedure you can cover up any skin discoloration with makeup. Swelling varies between individuals from no swelling at all to moderate swelling that lasts up to a week. Most patients don’t report any downtime after Volbella but every person is a little different.
Can Volbella treatments be combined with other treatments?
As smoker’s lines are difficult to treat, especially if they have been neglected, a Volbella treatment can be combined with some laser procedures and improve the final rejuvenation of the mouth area. You can also choose to have your other aesthetic injectables performed at the same time.
